The Completist's Guide to Peckham

The Completist Store

You’ve heard us talking about our store a bit recently, but we know that if you’re not from London, Peckham can be a bit out of the way if you’re just visiting so you might not have ventured south of the river. HOWEVER, now that Rye Lane is out in the cinemas, we think you definitely should be inspired to come down and check it out - and not just because we’re here! So, here’s our guide to our neighbours and favourite spots.

FOOD

We drink a LOT of coffee over here at The Completist HQ, and we are so spoiled to have the best coffee in Peckham just a few minutes away from our doorstep. We’ve tried pretty much all the coffee around and can confidently say that Abi at Ron’s makes the best coffee in Peckham. But don’t just stop in for coffee - it’s a vegan cafe, so definitely stop in for lunch as well (you haven’t lived until you’ve tried Andy’s beans on toast). Or, if it’s a bit later in the day, stop in for a cocktail and a vegan pizza from The Fat Crust

We would be doing you a massive disservice if we didn’t tell you just how good the morning buns at Larry’s are. Seriously - fresh out of the oven, if you’re there on the right day, their miso and white chocolate one is out of this world. Or, a classic cinnamon one will also do the trick. Again, if you’re around later in the day, Larry’s have great small plates and honestly the world’s best celeriac schnitzel sandwich. Plus fab cocktails if you’re feeling so inclined.

If you’re wandering up towards Peckham Rye Park and need another coffee, we also love Nola. Impeccably decorated, this place has perfect relaxing coffee vibes - if you can get a seat! It’s always full of locals, which is always a good sign, but don’t worry - their coffee is just as good on the go.

If you’re up that way, you’re definitely spoiled for choice with food. Our forever favourite will be Mr Bao, which is the best bao in London (don’t let any other guide or person tell you otherwise. We’ve tried them all, and Mr Bao is by far the best). Their brunch is also very, very good. If you’re lucky enough to get a table, do not pass up eating here, there is nothing bad on the menu.

If you’ve ever been to Freemans in New York, you’ll know just how iconic their artichoke dip is, and you probably crave it at least 3 times per week even though you last ate it in 2008. Well, I am here to tell you that Good Neighbour do a very good version of this - I was taken right back to NYC the last time I ate it. They also have great cocktails and brunch, but you only really need to know about the artichoke dip - worth the visit just for this!

Of course, if you’re not local then you’ll need to make your way back down to Peckham Rye station, so on your way back we’d definitely recommend dropping past Copeland Park. We’re so lucky to be neighbours with bars like Social, and the amazing Forza Wine with their rooftop views of London. Social is always buzzing, and Forza is just stunning on a summer’s night.

SHOPPING

First up, you’ve got us, of course! Our store is only small, but we pack a lot in. We’re the stockist of a lot of brands you won’t find anywhere else, like Roen, Botanica and Living Thing. Plus, we have our 3 store cats - yes, they’re friendly and yes, they live in the studio. They’ll often be around just waiting for attention.

We’re also lucky to have some other super cool neighbours nearby, like Peckham Supply. They stock some great brands like Haeckels, Folk and United Athle, and they’re super nice people too! It’s a gorgeous space and you’ll want to spend lots of money.

If music is more your thing, then definitely swing past Peckham Soul - it’s a small space but they have an incredible selection of records. These guys also own Peckham Soul Vintage who are just across from us.

Also keep an eye on Copeland Park events - it’s often home to big kilo vintage sales, art exhibitions, makers markets like Pexmas and vintage furniture markets.

Finally, while you’re here you might as well wander up to Bellenden Road to visit our local stockist Form SE15. Run by the super lovely Jo, this store has gifty bits, as well as both men’s and women’s clothing and accessories. She has a fantastic eye, I always want to spend a lot of money there.

There is of course so much to do and see here in Peckham, and there’s always some great events going on, especially in the Summer. We love being in this neighbourhood and we hope you decide to come by and visit!
